HAVING lost at home to West Devon A earlier in the season in the Tavistock Snooker League, it was a case of 'sweet revenge' for Conservative A as they edged them out 3-2 in a predictably close fought match.

Carruthers got Con A off to a winning start by beating Morris, although Morris certainly had his chances. Next up proved to be the pivotal frame as Longden combined some sublime safety play with assured pressure potting to inflict the first defeat of the season on an edgy Kevin Rich - this win also kept Longden's unbeaten run this season intact.

The next two frames went West Devon's way - firstly Heathman with another 20 break ousting Cook, and then Emptage finding his potting touch as he racked up a commanding 80 points to swamp Bell.

The deciding frame went the way of Con A as the experienced Evans took control against Lawrence and for good measure notched up a 20 break. It might prove that West Devon needed more from this match to catch Con A, as this win allowed the Cons to stretch their lead over West Devon at the top of the league to a comfortable five points.

A jovial and relaxed atmosphere pervaded in the match between local rivals Conservative Z and Conservative C.

Jago for Con C was caught cold by Steve Hall for Con Z who overwhelmed Jago with a convincing display of potting to put Con Z in the lead. Symons for Con Z Team made it 2-0 against Wilkinson. In her first appearance for Con Z Zoe Churchill put up a spirited fight against veteran Rob Neale but failed to inflict any lasting damage to make it 2-1. Jankowski's usual display of steady potting disposed of Con C team's captain, Hoare.

For the first time in the history of the League, two ladies were pitted against each other. Cath Friend for Con Z Team and Angie Ward for Con C Team with Friend decisive for a 4-1 victory for Conservative Z.
