IN only their third year of competitive Cricket Destiny was in their own hands as Buckland Bucanners defied the odds to be crowned as West Devon Palladium Cricket U11s Champions of 2013.
Buckland Buccaneers, secured the title with a win in their final league game of the season at Crapstone against Plymstock by 80 runs having lost only once in their eight matches.
Buckland won the toss and elected to bowl. Fine bowling from Adam Talbott (four wickets), Toby McLuskie (3wkts) and Isaac Broughton (2wkts) pegged Plymstock back to a final total off 153 runs from their 20 overs.
The Buccaneers got off to a shaky start after good bowling from Plymstock but Buckland steadied the ship and with some fine batting finished on a final total of 233 runs from their 20 over to win by 80 runs.
On hand to award the League Champions trophy on behalf of the league and its sponsors Palladium Builders was Andy Alford who presented it to Buckland skipper Adam Talbott on behalf of the team.
