THE Spooners Family Horse and Dog Show was held on the Pound Estate, near Buckland Monachorum. 

The show was organised in just three months, thanks to a small team of volunteers from Spooners and West Dartmoor Hunt. The event was supported by more than 50 show sponsors, the Roborough Young Farmers and the local landowners.   

The sun shone throughout the day as more than 250 horse boxes, trailers and cars rolled through the gates. Around 150 horses competed in various classes including ridden and working hunter, mixed and inhand showing, show jumping and gymkhana games, and more than 50 dogs competed for the title of best in show.

The supreme champion prize was won by Miss Molly Brook riding Mighty Night Witch and the reserve champion was Miss Isla May Todd riding Treowen Rhianna.

In the dog show the best in show prize was won by Isla, owned by Patricia French and handled by Sam Hutchings and reserve went to Roxy handled by Evie Wilkins.

Donations on the day were taken in aid of the Royal Marines Charitable Trust.

The organisers thanked all those who helped make the day such a success and look forward next year!
