it was a lively and productive time for Tavistock Athletic Club juniors this week.
Joe Wheeler made a tremendous effort to enjoy national success and winning a gold medal at the English Schools in the U15s 300m boys in a time of 36 minutes 01 seconds.
Joe’s clubmate Ed Fileman threw the discus in 49.18m and is now ranked second in the UK, while Lois, his sister, also competed in the hammer and stays ranked 29th in the UK.
James Armstrong from Tavistock AC said: ‘I always highlight to people that, to be even at the English Schools Championships is an incredible achievement so to see so many medals is unbelievable. The event really is the best of the best.’
Many Tavistock juniors were out in force as their club played host to the Devon Open track and field on Sunday. Medals went to those athletes who competed in all four fixtures of the open series.
