THIS weekend saw members of Bere Alston Trekkers competing near and far. In Cornwall, husband and wife members of BATs Dave and Pam Adams took on the Storm Force 10, hosted by Carn Runners.
This fast undulating ten-mile road route heads out of Camborne through Barripper and Carnhell Green towards Leedstown before turning back on the Praze road, returning back to Carnhell Green and Barripper before coming back into Camborne. There is a very fast finish to keep the excitement going to the final stages of the race.
The finish and Race HQ are at Camborne School and was well attended by more than 600 runners, who enjoyed free cake and soup at the finish. Dave and Pam Adams stormed over the finish line recording times of 1 hour 23 minutes 05 seconds and 1.38.48 respectively.
Meanwhile, further afield, Northern BAT Angelo Apa ran in warmer climes than most BAT’s this weekend when he competed in the Standard Chartered Dubai 10k Road Race. In temperatures of around 24 degree C Angelo finished in a time of 59 minutes 50 seconds coming 2,741 out of 14,888 runners and an impressive 93rd out of 637 in his age group.
