TAVISTOCK Squash Club has a new dedicated coach who will also become the head of the club’s academy taking ultimate responsibility for the coaching and the development of the academy and its members.
Steve Mooney, who is a level three coach, a sports teacher and also the club’s top player, started his new role on November 5 with four local children signing up for the new sessions, which are free for the rest of this year.
The academy session take place on Saturday mornings.
Squash is a game that can be played in all weathers at any time of the year and has been voted the healthiest sport to play. It is a relatively quick game to play, a match lasting about 40 minutes and it only needs two players. It is also a game that can be played throughout life, with the club’s oldest member being in his 80s.
