Plymouth and West Devon four

Yelverton Villa 2

Plymouth Spurs 5

ONCE again Yelverton Villa snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Villa started the game playing some confident football and were rewarded with the first goal when Colin Murray's pass dissected the Spurs defence putting Ben Pridham through one on one with the keeper for a simple finish.

Despite pressure from Spurs, Villa defended confidently and looked certain to lead at the break, but two moments of ill-discipline on the stroke of half time changed the game, and ultimately cost Villa the match.

Yelverton pressed forward from the start of the second half, looking for the equaliser but, against the run of play, it was Spurs who scored from a well driven free kick. Villa continued to press for a lifeline which duly arrived when Ian Harvey's header fell nicely for Pridham to fire home his second.

As the game entered the last 10 minutes, Villa threw players forward in search of the equaliser, only to be punished by Spurs on the counter attack with two late goals.
