THE first U9s Meldon Cup took place at Chagford Cricket Club last week.

Teams from South Tawton, North Tawton, Chagford and Spreyton enjoyed an afternoon of Kwik cricket.

The pool matches were keenly contested and the semi finals saw South Tawton A run out narrow victors over Chagford A, and North Tawton A beat North Tawton B in a hard fought match!

Chagford went on to clinch third spot.

The final  saw some fine cricket dominated on the whole by bowling. The match was decided by South Tawton A captain Billy Jecks whose performance earned him player of the tournament and his side the cup.

Other notable proformances during the afternoon saw Archie Harvey (North Tawton) awarded bowler of the day; Harry Mount (Chagford) batsman and Jemima Vereker (North Tawton) girls' player.

Chagford Cricket Club thank all those than helped with the tournament.
