SUMMER approaches and, with the sound of leather on willow, Tavistock Cricket Club gets ready to begin the season in the A division of the Devon Cricket League following its runaway win of the B Division last season.

The club has seen much work carried out during the winter to improve the interior of the pavilion, including the refurbishment of the dressing rooms, which includes new showers and a new boiler, and with the square looking like billiard table things are looking good for the coming season.

Last week also saw the arrival of South African all-rounder Jay Stevens who recently joined the Cape Town premier side the Cape Cobras, where he met up with Beuran Hendricks who was at Tavistock three years ago and has since played for South Africa and in the Indian Premier League.

Jay will be living in Tavistock for the summer, playing for the club and assisting with the coaching of our colts so we extend a warm welcome and wish him all the very best during his stay.
