AT the World Duathlon Championships in Pontevedra, Northern Spain, Okehampton Running Club's Sue Walker repeated her running and cycling success at last year's championships in Ottawa, Canada when she won a silver medal in the 40-44 category. Sue again took her place on the podium to receive the silver medal after finishing in a time of 1 hour 10 minutes 52 seconds, just three seconds behind the winner, with a 5k run of 20 mins 17 secs; a T1 of 2.08; 20k cycle of 36mins 59secs; T2 of 1.21; 2.5k run of 10 mins 08 secs. This result automatically qualifies her for next year's World Duathlon Championships in Adelaide, Australia. Sue is appealing to local businesses to help with the costs through sponsorship. This is a rare opportunity to be involved in this exciting sport and with Sue's consistent results over the past years she has as good a chance as anyone of making the podium again in Adelaide.
