MATT Edwards and Kieran Rookes of Tavistock Swimming Club competed in the ASA South West Region Short-Course Championships, which took place at Millfield School, Street in Somerset.

Kieran competed in three events, achieving fourth place in the 50m breaststroke, eighth in the 100m breaststroke and 12th in the 50m freestyle in the junior age group of 15 years and under. He also achieved personal best times in his breaststroke events.

Matt competed in seven events in the open age group. He swam in the 50m and 100m butterfly events, as well as all the freestyle events, ranging from 50m up to 1500m.

Matt swam a personal best time in the 400m freestyle with a very good top ten finish, and achieved a third place in the final event of the championships – the 1500m freestyle. Well done to these two boys for their achievements at these championships.
