DEVON and Exmoor Sheepdog Society held a trial at Long Plantation farm at Two Bridges, Princetown. The society thank Neil Cole,  who supplied the sheep and the venue. Trial secretary Lesley Lock said it was a successful day with 36 dogs competing. She told the Times: 'Having been shorn the day before, the Swaledale sheep ran very light,  giving some dogs problems, as did the lifting of the sheep, with handlers not being able to assist the dogs who were out of sight.  'Judge Tony Griffiths placed David Cole and his Dog Moss in first place and Bob Watson with Rob second in the open and Jed Watson with Cap and Jim Nicholls with Mason in first and second place in the novice.'
