Carlsberg South West Peninsula division one East
Okehampton Argyle 3
Galmpton United 4
THIS was a disappointing result for Argyle against a team they had beaten only away two weeks ago. Oke's usually reliable defence had an off day and the midfield never really got going.
Kicking down the Simmons Park slope, Galmpton made the early running and forged in front on nine minutes when a free kick wide on the right from Robbie Bowker was met by Alex Bayliss. The target man was left completely unmarked in the area as he headed firmly past keeper Craig Mulholland.
Too many Argyle passes were going astray and Galmpton's back line looked comfortable. The nearest effort on target Argyle did have came a minute before the break when Luke Alden crossed the ball deep and Ross Hoyland fired over the bar.
Argyle started the second half with more purpose and equalised on 51 minutes when Alden worked his way into the box before being brought down by defender Kevin Wiltshire. From the penalty kick Dale Chadwick sent Matt Congdon the wrong way. All of a sudden Argyle looked the better side as Galmpton received a string of yellow cards. This handed the initiative to Argyle and they reaped the dividend in the 81st minute. Visiting keeper Congdon stretched high to gather full back Dave Smith's lofted through ball, and dropped the ball as he landed and John Wiseman was there to tuck the loose ball home with eighty one minutes on the clock.
That signalled the start of a bizarre passage of play with four goals in six minutes and Argyle who thought they had done enough to win the game were put on the back-foot. A minute later and a long cross field pass from Wiltshire was gathered by Bayliss and steered beyond Mullholland.
On 84minutes, the lead was back with Galmpton as a cross to the back post was coolly put away by Kevin Wills.
On 86 minutes, Bayliss grabbed his hat trick. Wills' pass inside was taken in his stride by Bayliss and he let fly from 25 yards with the ball dipping beyond the keeper for a fine goal.
In the celebrations Galmpton central defender Jon Potter was sent off for collecting a second yellow.
Four minutes into time added on, a corner from Alden was met at the back post by defender Argyle's Chadwick who guided his downward header past the defenders on the line. Too little too late for Argyle.
