WHITCHURCH made the long, hot trek across to Babbacombe with only nine players.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first. They suffered a nightmare start, slumping to 1-2 and then 5-3.

Megicks and Powell then added 75 for the fourth wicket, before Megicks was caught for 32 off Pym (2-7).

Powell went soon after for 28 and with Thompson taking three and Goodwin two wickets, Whitchurch were dismissed agonisingly short of a deserved point for 99.

League leaders Babbacombe wasted no time in knocking off the runs. Tanton (35 not out), Beech (27) and Thompson (28no) seeing their side to victory in just 12 overs.

Ben Hodge was the lone wicket taker for Whitchurch.
