Yelverton 2nd XI v Honiton II

THANKS to the sterling efforts of Jerry Warland working on the square at Langton Park following heavy overnight rain, the game went ahead without delay.

Yelverton lost the toss and were asked to bat on the damp wicket. After a steady start, in some difficult batting conditions Yelverton made an impressive 240 for seven with Dave Scott scoring a chanceless 119 being ably supported by Ian Loze (22) Gerry Keen (25) and Sam Parker (20).

After tea, Tony Carter (9-3-26-1) and Terry Roe (6-0-13-1) had impressive opening spells effectively putting the game beyond Honiton after 11 overs. A change of bowling brought on Ian Loze from the Pavilion End and an impressive spell of 9-1-43-6 tore through the Honiton batting line up.

At the other end, George Perry making his debut also bowled well with figures of 7-0-18-1.  In reply Honiton were bowled out for 110.

Yelverton II (20pts) beat Honiton II (5pts) by 130 runs.

Next week the second eleven travel to East Budleigh to take on Exeter III at Bicton Gardens (2.00PM).
