Clyst St George

WITH Chagford pushing for promotion and Clyst St George locked in a relegation battle, this was an important game for both teams last week.

Clyst batting first lost wickets at regular intervals, with six batsmen reaching double figures but none going on for a major contribution.

Chris Cook top scored on 24 battled through against the accurate attack before being out at 96-6.

Clyst went on to reach 133-9 in the match reduced to 40 overs a side.

 Young  Billy Searle returning the attack had made the vital breakthrough and he finsihed with 5-36 off his 12 overs.

In reply Chagford quickly lost Paul Penberthy. Gary Sizmur was joined by Billy Searle, and they carefully built a partnership against the accurate Clyst bowlers with all rounder Chris Cook bowling his 10 overs for only 19 runs,

With the runs now  flowing against the other bowlers the pair saw Chagford home by nine wickets with a stand of 113.    

Gary Sizmur 55 not out and Billy Searle in a fine all round performance finished on 61 not out.

Chagford won by nine wickets and 19 important points.
