Lamerton 3

Pelynt 2

LAMERTON pressed hard in the first 15 minutes, but other than a couple of half chances in front of goal, the hosts could not create any opportunities to test the Pelynt goalkeeper.

Pelynt grew stronger as the half progressed, and the visitors took the lead when a cross from the left wing was not dealt with by the Lamerton defence and the ball was bundled into the net.

In the second half Lamerton came out with all guns blazing and began to pin Pelynt back into their own half. The pressure soon told when Blair Vanstone cut in from the left wing and fired the ball into the corner of the Pelynt net, to equalise.

Lamerton got their noses in front soon after, when James Steer cleverly evaded two Pelynt defenders on the edge of the visitors' penalty area, then slotted the ball home past an outstretched keeper.

Although Lamerton looked comfortable when Pelynt went on the attack, the visitors kept plugging away in search of a goal, and got themselves back on level terms through a deflected shot that looped over the head of Lamerton keeper Chris Wearing.

The winning goal by Lamerton was a great team effort — the ball was worked well from the left across the pitch to Kyle Hill, who released Phil Wearing on the right wing; Wearing then delivered a pinpoint cross to Richard Searle at the near post, who rose above the Pelynt defence and glanced the ball into the far corner of the net to claim the three points for Lamerton.
