TAVY A kept on course to secure second spot in the Tavistock Snooker league with a fine 4-1 win over Conservative Z.
Hicks and Hoar (28) put them two up with the later inflicting a heavy defeat for Cons Z skipper Palmer. Hackney pulled one back for the Cons with a composed black ball win over Woods. The next two frames went to Tavy A as Grylls overcame a battling Symons followed by Ryall whose two 20 plus breaks proved too much for Dodd. The win keeps Tavy one point ahead of West Devon A in second spot with one to play.
Consevative A, already crowned league champions. completed a routine workman like 5-0 win over West Devon B.
Evans beat an out of sorts John Rich while Carruthers (22) fought off a late rally from the Bath to put the Cons two up. Further comfortable wins for Cook over Roger Rich and Longden over Gilchrist secured the game for the Con A. The highlight of the evening was Con A's Folley against the 'in form' May. After 25 minutes of riveting snooker Folley opened up a 3-1 lead which May never recovered from.
West Devon A stayed well and truly in the race for second spot with a solid 4-1 win over Conservative B. Hall put WD one up with victory over Dolan while Heathman kept his composure to beat Andrews in a black ball finish to make it two. Con B's Lillicrap put up a good showing against Rich but it was Rich who finished the stronger only for McKechnie to pull one back for Con B.
Emptage made it four for West Devon with a solid win over Ewings. WD now one point behind Tavy A in second place, with one game to play, leaves it all to play for.
