TWO year eight students at Mount House School, Harry Sale and Jessica Huntington, have been awarded academic exhibitions to Sherborne and Canford, respectively.
Harry is a key member of the school first XV and first VII playing most of his rugby as a centre and this term he is playing in midfield for the first VII hockey team.
Last summer he played cricket for the U13 first XI a year early. He also plays squash for the school and is taking his grade three exam for the French horn this term as well as playing in the orchestra and the brass ensemble.
His most recent recent feat was playing Sir Percy, a leading role in the school production, The Scarlet Pipistrelle, this term.
Jessica Huntington has also had an illustrious career at Mount House. In addition to strong academic achievements, she is a highly accomplished sportswoman at the school, having played left wing for the first VII hockey team (awarded her Colours), first team netball and second team rounders — the latter last year.
Jessica is a very keen runner and competes for the cross country and athletics teams, winning both the 800m and the 1500m at this year's Sports Day in the U13 age group.
Another high point in Jessica's Mount House career came earlier this term when she was named one of the ten finalists in Canford School's inaugural national classical essay competition.
Mount House School headmaster, Patrick Savage, said: 'We are delighted with the Year 8s scholarship success this year. Although we are still midway through the scholarship season, almost 50 per cent of our leaving class have been offered awards to their senior school of choice, including some of the very best schools in the UK today.'
