Lamerton 2

St Stephen 2

LAMERTON took an early lead when James Steer latched on to a through ball from Blair Vanstone. Steer then rounded the St Stephen keeper and neatly slotted the ball into the net.

St Stephen came close to levelling midway through the fist half when Ross Dunn struck an effort from 12 yards but Dunn was denied by Lamerton keeper Chris Wearing who made an outstanding save down by his left hand post.

However, St Stephen did draw level in the 45th minute when Saints winger Conner Dean got the better of Lamerton's Phil Wearing and struck a shot into the roof of the net from ten yards.

Lamerton came out with all guns blazing at the start of the second half.  Simon Breyley came close to regaining the lead for the hosts, but his headed effort from a set piece was tipped over the crossbar by Saints' keeper Ciaran Igoe.

Breyley was denied again minutes later when another headed effort from the centre half was cleared off the line by the Saints' defence.

Lamerton regained the lead in the 72nd minute when a Blair Vanstone cross was not claimed by Igoe.  Ross Hann was quickest to react from the Saints' keeper's mistake and slotted the ball into the net.

St Stephen denied Lamerton all three points in the 92nd minute. Lamerton were guilty of needlessly giving away possession deep inside the Saints' half and the were punished when St Stephen broke up field. James Truscott crossed from the left wing to Kyle Wray who prodded the ball home from six yards.
