AN IMPRESSIVE 219 runners, 75 walkers and six relay teams took part in this year's Ruby Run —which is organised by Active Villages, Made Well and the Ruby Run committee. The half marathon route is between the towns of Holsworthy and Hatherlieigh. The start and finish points alternate from year to year - the 2012 started off in Holsworthy.
The charity run has donated around £30,000 to charities in the first nine years and this year its proceeds will benefit Cancer Research.
Andrew Vallance of Inwardleigh was second home., three minutes behind winner Chris Sellens of Westward Ho! who completed the course in 1 hour 16 minutes and 45 seconds. Jo Meek from Tavistock was the leading lady in a superb 1.23.56.
