A LARGE large field at Okehampton Golf Club competed for the President's trophy in the May individual medal.
Winner of division one was Rod Wright with nett 64, Chris Hurley was in second place with nett 65 and in third place was Simon Jefferies with nett 66 - also winning the President's trophy with the best gross of 71.
The division two winner was Paul Fewings with net 61, in second was Rod Milsom-Smith with nett 65 winning on the back nine from Will Potts in third. Division three winner was Bob McDowell with nett 66, winning on the back nine from Ashley Arscott in second place, Club Captain John Haley was third place with nett 69.
On Saturday there were beautiful conditions for the Ted Brown Challenge Trophy a Stableford two to count team competition. Winners of division one and the trophy with 80 points were Mark Wonnacott, Malcolm Hill and Kevin Cornwall; second with 79 were Andy Parry, Robin Webb and Alan Grimshaw; third Graham Moysey, Malcolm Hooper and Dave Bickle with 77. Winners of division two with 75 points were Steve Browne, Graham Browne and Paul Fewings; second Ron Copeland, Graham Harding and Chris Goodman with 74 and third Terry Steer, Pete Grimley and Matt Mills.
Okehampton Golf Club ladies spring open took place with teams from 18 different golf courses taking in a Texas Scramble/ Overall winners with an outstanding 57.8 were Abby Turner, Sue Gannon and Kazzie Collison from Oke GC and Exeter Golf and Country Club, second with 61.2 were Sam Avens, Bridie Sampson and Helen Phipps from Tavistock Golf Club; the best combination team with 61.4 were Lin Atkinson (Okehampton), Sylvia Caunter and Fran Shrubsole. The best Okehampton team with 62.2 were Janice Thwaites, Lorna McCurragh and Anne Brokenbrow.
