Plymouth Netball premier B

Rentafford 38

Plymstock Predators 16

RENTAFFORD took on second in the league Plymstock. There were many mistakes by both teams but it was the latter who took the lead to go 3-1 up.

Ford soon grouped together with a great tip from Toni Dustan which Jodie Brent picked up and brought down to Kate Bourn to convert. Ford levelled at 3-3 and Sarah Streeter now found her range, shooting from distance to make it 8-3. Bourn was linking well with Naomi Kent at centre bringing the ball down court with ease with the score 12-5 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second Plymstock made a few changes, turning over their opponents with two centre passes. Anna Chapell at WA was now working well for Ford with Bourn and Streeter picking up loose balls on the edge of the circle. Kent made a fine intercept which Brent brought down on the run to Bourn who scored for 18-9,

The third quarter ended 27-13 to Ford after Plymstock scored the first three goals. However, Dustan and Brent for Ford lifted their game up a notch and were all over the attack marking them tight and keeping them out of the circle. Karen Channon worked well with the defence and linking with Kent and Chapell.

Ford finished with a great quarter from start to finish with everyone worked as a team and Bourn and Streeter did not miss any opportunities.

Rentafford now move to second in Prem B.

Plymouth Netball division five

TT3 12

Sporting Sparks 11

THE teams were evenly matched but neither side took advantage of each other’s early mistakes. Sparks, however, did get their ball into their shooters, who converted more successfully than TT3.

Lisa Chamberlain for TT3 offered great back up for the attack of Charlotte Hill and Siobhan Rescorla as the first quarter ended 4-1 to Sparks.

Tracey Coupland came on at centre and Sky Greta May at GD. Lorraine Hucker started using the front position to get the ball into the circle, one of which she converted. Shortly after Rescorla scored to make it 3-5. Hill passed into the circle well but Sparks’ GK made it difficult for TT3 to shoot with her reach. Chamberlain made an excellent interception but could not get the ball down court.

In the third Sarah Daymond at GK for TT3 worked tirelessly in the circle with May. Farrah Higgins then scored for the Tavistock side. Player of the match Jade Coupland, using a reverse hand, intercepted the ball but Sparks soon turned it over again. Rescorla and Higgins worked well together as did the TT3 defence of Daymond, May and Coupland Junior, while Robyn Hammond worked hard connecting attack to the defence.

TT3 had now reduced the score to 9-6 in Sparks’ favour.

In the final quarter TT3 put pressure on every pass, forcing Sparks to make mistakes.

Two goals by Higgins and another by Rescorla made it 9-9 before a net by Higgins put TT3 in the lead at 10-9 for the first time.

Hill then won a toss up and a bounce pass into the circle from Hammond found the shooters, as Rescorla converted.

Sparks scored with seconds to go to make the the final score 12-11 to TT3.
