Rentafford 37

Hawks Tor 23

AFTER losing to Hawks back in November Rentafford were prepared for a tough encounter.

Jodie Brent and Toni Dustan both made early intercepts but neither were converted. Ford were first to get on the scoreboard with a great bounce ball into the circle from Gemma Cole to player of the match Sophie Jury who scored.

Ford went 5-0 up but a few silly mistakes let Hawks back in the quarter bringing it back to 5-4. Naomi Kent made a tip which was picked up and a great long ball in to Kate Bourn as the quarter finished 7-5.

Hawks’ centre was broken straight away by Ford good feed into the circle by Karen Channon. Dustan intercepted but did not convert. The Hawks’ GK was now reading the pass into the circle which was limiting the options. Bourn made a great shot from the edge of the circle. Hawks came up with a great intercept but Cole retrieved it and fed to Jury who scored for 15-12 to Ford.

In the third quarter a good start from Ford netted the first three goals. Channon forced a held ball which Bourn converted. Jury and Bourn were constantly forced to the edge of the circle but both girls had found their form.

Kent made a few tips which were now being brought down court with ease with the quarter ending 28-18.

In the last quarter Dustan and Brent made it hard for Hawks to get the ball into the circle.

Ford scored the first two goals before they went on to win 37-23.
