RENTAFFORD knew this was going to be a tough one in a second v third clash.

Jodie Brent for Ford made a big intercept, which Kate Bourn netted. Toni Dustan tipped the ball which was picked up by Karen Channon but Ford were unable to convert, though shortly after. Brent intercepted and Sarah Streeter made it count.

Streeter and Bourn in the attacking circle played well together and made it hard for Plymstock defence. At the end of the first quarter it was 7-5 to Rentafford.

Plymstock converted off Ford’s centre pass but Helen Veness fed the shooters well for Ford as did Gemma Cole.

At the end of the second Plymstock pulled back to 16-16.

The defence of Dustan, Brent and Channon put pressure on Plymstock attack and forced the errors.

A few minutes of bad play from both sides saw errors and messy play but at the end of the third it was 26-20 to Ford.

In the fourth Ford continued where they left of, pressure in defence forced a held ball. Veness made an interception which the shooters converted while Dustan made tips and intercepts.

This 38-24 was another good win for Rentafford, with promotion looking likely for the second place team.

RENTAFFORD first centre pass was turned over and converted. Ford went 4-0 down until Jodie Brent made a great intercept from which Kate Bourn scored.

Ford started to pull together forcing mistakes of Hawks, bring the game back to 4-4. Sian Demery got a great pick up but again the shooters could not convert. Toni Dustan at GK had her work cut out but she kept the pressure on as the quarter ended in 9-7 to Hawks.

Hawks converted Fords’ first two centre passes. Sophie Jury had a big shot under pressure and scored. Dustan and Brent along with Demery were making intercepts but the ball was coming straight back. Karen Channon and Gemma Cole worked well together in the attack bringing the ball to the shooters. 20-13 Hawks.

Ford struggled bringing the ball to the attackers, as Hawks extended their lead to . 30-18 at the end of the third.

It was a much better quarter for Ford as Jury and Bourn were now finding the net with confidence. Channon found Bourn easier on the run as Ford finshied with a positive by winning the quarter.
