MOUNT Kelly is delighted that it has another crowned national swimming champion.

Oliver Taverner from Mount Kelly has set a new British swimming record (for 15 year-old boys) in the 50m breaststroke in a time of 28.98 seconds and went on to win gold in the men’s junior final at the British Swimming Championships 2017 at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.

Oliver became the first 15 year-old to ever break the 29 second barrier in this event. Oliver also swam to a new lifetime best in the 100m breaststroke junior final to claim eighth position. These results put him in a great position for selection to the European Youth Olympic Festival later this summer.
