WITH a more attacking formation and their normal strength of purpose, Tavistock Community Football Club U15s girls had a great start to this game.

Despite numerous chances on goal they found themselves trailing by 3-0 at half time — not a true reflection of the hard work and skillful football they had shown in the first 40 minutes.

A change of formation after half time led to the visitors scoring two goals soon into the second half. The first, a corner taken by Steph Hutchins, was met by the brave header from Beth Davey and the ball fell nicely for Philippa Allwork to head home.

The second followed a strong counter-attack by TCFC when Steph Hutchins unleashed a rasping shot that left the West Exe goal keeper with little chance.

At 3-2 suddenly the game was back in the grasp of TCFC girls but their opponents then stepped up their game which quickly resulted in another goal to make the final score 4-2.

Coach/manager John Mulley said: 'The girls worked really hard today, showed strong team spirit and are improving all the time.'
