DJM Rodney U16s

Horrabridge Rangers U16s 2

St Blazey U16s 1

THE first half was pretty much an even affair with both teams playing some good passing football.

Horrabridge's best chance of the half fell to debutant Connor Moore when he beat two defenders before smashing his shot against the cross-bar from 18 yards.

The top of the table visitors created one or two chances themselves with their best effort falling to Carr and only Rangers keeper Ollie Cox prevented him from scoring when he made a superb double save to deny him.

The second half was much the same although both teams upped their tempo and both created more chances. It was the home team that took the lead after 55 minutes when player of the match Harry Eaton's inch perfect through ball sent Connor Moore racing clear and he made no mistake in beating the on-rushing keeper from 14 yards.

St Blazey threw all they could at Horrabridge but the home side's defence of Ryder, Fuller, Johnson and Glanville thwarted any attack the visitors had. Rangers doubled their lead after 70 minutes when Moore then became provider as he sent Max Burgess racing clear and he superbly drilled the ball past the keeper from 16 yards. They could have added a third minutes later when Jack Northam and Taylor Kingham combined for the latter to see his shot well saved by the Blazey keeper.

With five minutes to go St Blazey threw themselves a life line when Durrain headed home from close range from a Tredigo free-kick. Horrabridge seen out the final minutes of the game to take the points in what was an all-round superb team performance.
