ON Saturday was the final day of racing in the Winter Series for the International One Metre class in the radio sailing — the event taking place at Shaugh Lakes, the home of Dartmoor Radio Sailing Club.
The day started with the lightest of breezes, but soon the wind increased as the rain showers arrived, accompanied by wind shifts up to 90 degrees. Some of the downpours were heavy, but racing continued despite these interruptions, and a full days racing, consisting of 16 races in total took place.
A total of 25 boats took part in the series, of which 23 were DRSC members, with two visitors from other clubs.
Results: 1, Jerry Lock with a score of 9 points, Aqua sail number 15; 2, Paul Newman, 14pts, MX15 sail number 164;
3, Dave Kent, 20pts, Britpop sail number 79.
The Summer Series for both the Dragonforce (RG65) class and the International One Metre (IOM) class are now under way, and the club will host the 2017 South West District event for the IOM class. Visitors and spectators will be welcome.
