THE Elephant's Nest Cricket Club, Horndon, hosted The Rock Inn, Yelverton in the now annual fixture. Having lost the toss the Nest's openers were put into bat. The Rock's bowlers started well removing Ed Carr and the returning Crispin Chambers cheaply. It was left to Louis Cherrington (24) and Ben Neale (25 not out) to rescue the innings. They were well supported by Rich Stacey (17no) leaving The Elephant's Nest with 116-6 off their 20 overs. Bentley with 1-10 and the other opening bowler 2-9 were the pick for the Rock. Carr (1-8) and Chambers (3-8) made up for their poor display with the bat by taking key wickets early on. This put The Rock under pressure and they soon crumbled to 64-9 off their overs, with Staton (14) and Bentley (17) offering resistance. The game was played in great spirit and the teams are looking forward to next year.
