IT was a great weekend for Tavistock Run project athletes. In the Plymouth half marathon Jim Cole and Henry Ware ran superbly.
Jim, who last month triumphed the Tavy 13, won the race convincingly, leading from the start, finishing in a strong time of 1 hour 12 minutes 22 seconds and Henry made his Plymouth half debut in a cracking time of 1.33.22 for a personal best.
Meanwhile on Sunday in London, three other teammates — Ben Neale, Jordan Andrews and Samantha Lake — taking on Virgin London Marathon.
Ben was competing in the ’fast good for age’ category for which he had previously qualified and he ran an excellent PB finishing in an excellent time of 2.51.06.
Sam Lake and Jordan had gained qualifying places in the British marathon Championships. It was Jordan Andrew’s debut marathon and he ran a superb time of 2.31.23, coming a respectable 78th overall.
Sam, also competing in the championships, running her fourth London Marathon and 14th marathon to date — achieving a great personal best by ten minutes and finally realising her ambition of a sub three hour marathon — finishing in 2.59.03 placing her 68th woman overall.
Emma Dooney, took on the Donut Duathlon at Torbay Velopark, where she ran, biked and ran again, her way to an excellent overall time of 1.07.52.
The winter/spring training season has been tough and everyone has worked extremely hard. The TRP team would like to say a huge thank you to David Chanter for all his hard work in coaching them.
