THE weekend saw a number of Tavistock Run Project athletes running a Parkrun in preparation for upcoming races.
At the Tamar Trails event Rachael Malthouse led the way with a third place finish overall and a new course personal best dipping under 20 minutes in a time of 19 minutes 57 seconds. She was followed home by Matt Teague who obliterated his pb by 40 seconds stopping the watch at 20.43 for fifth place. Finally Esse Bucket ran strongly for 51st place in 29.18. Lending support to the race were Chris and Harry Malthouse and Crispin Chambers who used the event as a social run.
Over at Mount Edgecumbe Ed Smart returned to familiar surroundings and duly won the race in a time of 19.30.
Jim Cole meanwhile used the Looe 10 miler as a final tune up race for some upcoming half marathons and on a tough hilly course came home in 62.07 for second place.
Finally, the preceding saw Sunday Pete Backaller and Jo Arscott take on the challenging Bodmin Trail half marathon. Pete dipped under two hours with a time of 1.59.57 while Jo ran a highly respectable 2.09.45.
This coming week sees the final race in the Westward League Cross Country at Redruth where the men’s team hope to consolidate on the second place overall in the standings, while others will be running the annual Bideford Half Marathon.
The club are looking forward to presenting their first run clinic/social evening at the Bedford Hotel on March 6.
