Chagford Reserves 5

Kentisbeare 5

THE War Memorial Playing Fields was the scene for one of the most remarkable games in recent Chagford history. Ten goals, two of which were penalties, a brawl and a wait for an ambulance!

Promotion tipped Kentisbeare swept ahead as early as the fifth minute, when the unmarked Beddow met the ball at the far post and nodded home.

Chagford did not have to wait long for an equaliser as youngster Sebastian Loram fired in his first goal from all of 25 yards. A few minutes later, the hosts were awarded a penalty that Robbie Miller neatly tucked away.

With such a glut of early goals, it was a surprise the next did not come until after the break as Kentisbeare's Fisher scored their second. From there Chagford were chasing the game. Paiva and Nasri gave the visitors a two goal lead before the latter was knocked out in a collision with Rowe. Tempers spilled over, discipline fell apart and action taken. Experience then showed as Miller netted his second penalty and shortly completed his treble with a fine finish.

Loram pounced to give Chagford a fifth goal but the promise of a home win was shattered in the dying minutes as Alford was allowed a free header to equalise.

Much credit to Chagford Reserves who halting their recent run of defeats.
