YELVERTON Tennis Club's annual Pimms tournament, organised by Ann Short, Lynne McFarlane and helped by Karen Hill, was a huge success again this year with a bumper turnout.

This fun gathering saw Simon Murray, Phil Gasche and Julia Whetton overall winners with prizes presented by the tournament organisers.  A buffet was enjoyed by both players and non playing spectators during a sunny afternoon and evening of friendly play and chat.

Yelverton are celebrating success in the Plymouth and district Tennis League having gained promotions in a number of teams.

The men's A team, captained by Phil Gasche, came top of division five and will be promoted to division four, while both the ladies A and B teams came second and will be promoted to divisions two and three respectively next year.

The juniors also had a great season winning all their matches and securing promotion from division three.  Yelverton were fortunate that captain Matt Chiappe, Tom Chiappe and Matt Smith were available for all matches.

The club is now looking forward to the start of its annual club championships in a few weeks.  With a good number of entries already, battles will soon be commencing in an attempt to reach the finals proposed for Saturday, October 19.

The club has its 'golf day' scheduled for Friday, September 6.  There's still time to enter costing £20 for Tavistock Golf Club members and £35 for non-members.   This covers a two course meal and 18 holes of golf.  Non-golfers are more than welcome to join for the meal at a cost of just £15.  To book call Mary on 01822 832433.

New members are welcomed to this friendly club which holds tennis sessions on two evenings a week and coaching for any age. For details call Wendy on 01822 853613.
