TAVISTOCK junior triathlete Pete Jarman took part in the popular Bude Shoreline Triathlon at Summerleaze beach last weekend.

Nearly 200 triathletes competed in the event.  The first leg of the triathlon was an energy sapping 500m swim in the choppy sea,  then a run up the beach to the transition area.

This was followed by an eleven mile cycle race along the hilly and exposed road to Widemouth and back along the A39.  The final leg was a 3.5 mile run around Bude.

This was the fourth time Pete has taken part in this event, and he finished in a time of one hour, six minutes 14 seconds.  Pete won the youth mens' 12-18 yr category and came joint 13th in the adult male category.
