TAVISTOCK junior triathlete Pete Jarman, 15,  took part in the recent Plymouth Junior open water aquathlon at Mount Batten

The weather conditions on the day were wet and windy and challenging for the juniors.  Pete competed in the 15-16 year age category.  The event started with an open water swim of 750 metres followed by a run to transition where the competitors took off their wetsuits and put on their running kit for the 4,000 metre run along the Mount Batten sea front.

Pete led from start to finish, completing the aquathlon in a time of 23 minutes 40 seconds, more than two minutes before the next competitor.  It was the third year in a row that Pete has taken first place in his age group. The aquathlon was held at the same time at the senior triathlon.

Pete trains with Tavistock Athletic Club and Tavistock Swim Club.  He competed on behalf of Plymouth Triathlon Club.
