A GROUP of local sports enthusiasts will get a superb opportunity to watch world class athletes later this spring.

The Okehampton Otters are planning to attend the UK Olympic swimming trials in March, with 87 swimmers and parents travelling to London to the Olympic Aquatics Centre to watch the event.

The group will watch swimmers competing for places in both the Olympic and Paralympic games.

David Rickwood, a fundraiser for the Otters, said: 'This is going to be a great weekend for the club and it's really exciting. I hope the event will be truly inspirational for the young swimmers who will be attending.'

The club will be holding a series of fundraising events including car washes and coffee mornings to help cover the cost.

The Otters are also celebrating a donation of £500 from the Okehampton Rotary Club, to go towards the training of level two swimming coaches for the club.

Everyone at the Okehampton Otters expressed thanks to the Rotary for their kind donation.
