MEMBERS of Okehampton Running Club were out in force on March 3 contesting half marathons in North Devon, Northampton and Bath and a 20 miler in Cornwall.

At the Bideford Half Marathon, members posed for a group photo in honour of club chairman, Andy Vallance, who is recovering following a sudden collapse the week before.

A large entry of 23 runners from ORC did Andy proud with Roger Voaden, Rob Kelly, Andy Vernon and Paul Carter winning the men's team prize. Roger Voaden also picked up second prize for MV45 and achieved a diamond award.

There was a clutch of personal bests and running in their first half marathon were Heather Richards, Beverley Dennis, Debby Bryant and Lynette Luxton — a great tribute to Andy's enthusiasm and encouragement.

The Olympic athlete, Scott Overall, was the winner with Paralympian David Weir the winner of the wheelchair race.

Jane Jackson is in great from and produced another excellent run on the testing Duchy 20 course near Redruth, covering the 20 miles in 2.56.06. This is a new club record for FV55. Jane is clearly on track for a good time in her forthcoming London Marathon.
