OKEHAMPTON Running Club sent a group of runners to the Bristol Half Marathon with the benefit of discounted entry fees thanks to Anne Binns who organised the entries and celebrated an important birthday the same weekend.
Stuart May, had a good run to finish in 1 hour 32 minutes 33 seconds, an encou-raging performance prior to the Bournemouth marathon next month.
Next home for ORC was Anne’s husband, John, who put in a good run despite not having run since a half marathon three months ago.
In total contrast to the big city road race was the aptly named Pirate Run organised by Bude Rats. Merv Rice and Charlotte ran this eight mile race over a route up and down cliff paths and farmland trails.
