IN Division One Milton Abbot A were at home against North Wyke, who could only field two players.
Enrique Cancer Barrota and Steve Granger won all their singles and doubles games for a 7-3 win, proving too strong against Michael Blatchford, Ian Osborne and Bob Gardner.
Okehampton A were at home to the young Okehampton C side. Karen Stephenson beat Josh Parsons in a hard fought first game 12-10, 7-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-8. The C side then stepped up a gear winning the next eight singles and a doubles for a 9-1 win.
The match was not as one sided as the score suggests as Steve Madge took Josh and Cameron Brooking to fifth leg deciders. In the final singles, Karen took Emily Haskell to five legs, just losing out. The doubles was also hard fought with Josh and Emily just beating Karen and Steve 11-8 in the fifth leg.
In their next match Okehampton C played club rivals Okehampton B. Zoe Bennett beat Josh Parsons in the opener, while Emily Haskell won against Sarah Jackson to level things up. In a solid performance Okehampton C went on to win four singles games in a row as part of an 8-2 victory that moves them up to second in the table.
In Division Two Horrabridge B played a very strong Okehampton D side. Luke Bennett, Frank Cockburn and Mark Baldwin were too strong for David Stewart, Lesley Coleman and Jill Northey and raced through to a whitewash 10-0 victory in straight sets. Okehampton D moved up to third in the table.
Gunnislake played Okehampton E. Eli Holt did well to beat Mike Kinger in the first game and went on to beat Michael Alexander in her next match. Jack Flockton had to work hard to beat young Tom Madge in the second to level the scores. Jack scored a fine maximum to help his side to a 7-3 win.
League Leaders anchorage A took on Milton Abbot B juniors. Tom Doidge lost to Malcolm Hopkins in the first but Angharad Beaman levelled at 11 against Colin Brooker. She also won her last singles against Colin Jones but could not stop Malcolm from scoring his eighth maximum. Tom and Angharad lost the doubles against Malcolm and Colin Brooker to complete an 8-2 win for Anchorage.
In the last match Moretonhampstead were at home against Horrabridge B. Ken Underhill won the first against David Stewart but Jill Northy levelled at 1-1, beating Richard Underhill in four legs. David May won the next against Lesley Coleman and Moreton went into a 5-1 lead. Moretonhampstead battled through to complete a 7-3 win.
