Okehampton ladies 5

Exeter University 3

AS the first whistle blew, the away side only had eight players. Okehampton soon took advantage as a swift ball from Jo Moppett to captain Lesley Bingham take the lead.

Oke first team ladies carried on putting the ball into the back of the goal as great passes from Winnie Rademaker, Hannah Whitely and player of the match Tara Davidson allowed Moppett to make a trio of runs to score three superb goals.

Shortly after, the rest of the away team made it to the pitch but this did not stop Okehampton, as Kim Davey played a superb ball into the D to allow Bingham to score her second goal.

Both teams came back onto the pitch after half time with the determination to win. Exeter were first on the attack as a lifted ball slipped into the back of the net. Exeter's second goal came from an deflection off of keeper Shannon Osman's pads. This only gave Exeter more energy to attack the strong Oke defence made up of Rachel Hammett, Jane Jones, Nicola Stoneman, Carol Taylor, Katie Adams and Anna Cherrington.

A number of on the ground saves from Osman saw Oke keep the three goal lead.

However, Exeter made it 3-5 when the ball was passed across the goal mouth and into the back of the goal. Oke fought hard to see out the match.
