WITH Conservative A picking up a 4-1 win in the Tavistock Snooker League over West Devon C with their game in hand, the top three places in the league are now separated by only one point.
Carruthers with a 21 and a 36 break was far too strong for Elliott to put Con A in front, only for Williams to pull West Devon level as he kept his head in a black ball finish over Cook. Lacey put the Con A in front taking a tight frame off P Rich with Evans (22) stretching their lead with a win over Decieco. Watters made it four for Con A with a comfortable encounter with an out of sorts Grigg.
West Devon B against Conservative C went into the 'wee hours of the night'. Bassett breezed the first frame for the Con C helped alongby a 24 break. Then Con C's Pete Crowl had a marathon baptism of fire but did well to out grind Jack May. Another tight frame went the way of the Con Cs to seal the match with Phil Craze beating Smith.
West Devon responded with two late wins from the Rich twins to reduce the deficit to 2-3 as they overcame tenacious resistance from Hoare and Jago.
This was a fine win for Con C who are at last building up a 'head of steam' and with their games in hand, could lift themselves off the bottom of the table.
