Chagford v Bideford
BIDEFORD, already sure of promotion, made a solid start helped by some wayward bowling from the home side.
However, the entry of Del Lammonby into the attack, brought an immediate reward as he dismissed Dan Barratt for 21. The dangerous James Ford quickly followed for 28 to Steve Sizmur, who has had an excellent season.
Australian Jodi Gilmoor. was bowled by Jerry Christophers 19 to leave Bideford at 86-3.
Matt Allin with 87 held the side together and with Bradbeer (15) Josh King (20) and Alex Crisp(15) all helping him with useful stands Bideford reached 255-7 in their 45 overs, with the change bowlers unable to stem the flow of runs.
Del Lammonby with 2-29, Jerry Christophers 1-24 and Steve Sizmur 1-33 only conceeded 86 runs in their allotted 27 overs whereas the other bowlers went for 162 runs in 18 overs.
Chagford started briskly in reply, but with Paul Penberthy (15) Pete Holland (13) and Will Lammonby (1) all falling in quick sucession Chagford were soon 45-3.
This brought Divan Marais and Charles Fitzroy together and in a stand of 106, Chagford looked to be on the way to victory. With the score at 151, Marais was well caught by Matt Allin off James Ford for a well constructed 71. When Fitzroy was run out for 52, only Jerry Christophers 17 not out and Steve Sizmur 13 not out reached double figures to enable Chagford to reach 223 -9 and a well earned 8 points. Bideford won by 32 runs.
James Ford 2-49, Fred King 2 for 41 and Dan Barratt 2-16 were the main wicket takers for Bideford, who finished top of the table, with only two losses during the season.
