WEST Devon C dished up a dose of festive 'cold turkey' to West Devon B team with a good old solid 4-1 thumping in the Tavistock Snooker League.
Elliott for the C team got stuck in first to give Gilchrist little chance. Pinkney took the C side two ahead as he gave the B team's John Smith a roasting. Horrel briefly halted the onslaught as he battled it out to overcome the C team's Bath to reduce the deficit to one frame. Williams turned up the heat to tame Rich (senior) and stretch the C team's lead. The 'icing on the Christmas cake' was provided in the last frame by Hodge as he inflicted the rarest of defeats on Hoar, and with it chalked up the fourth point for the C side.
Brimming with confidence after their win against the current league leaders Conservative A last week, the Conservative Z team were looking to take no prisoners in this match against the West Devon D team.
Steve Hall notched up a creditable 56 against West Devon D's Mike Hooper's 27.
Fitzsimmons for the Con A took the next frame in a convincing win against an unusually ponderous Jack May, giving Fitzsimmons his first win of the season. Con Z's Jankowski returned to his winning ways with a fine display against the normally reliable Shoulders to make it 3-0.
Neil Murton for West Devon D took a vital point from McKechnie to give his team a lifeline but Trevor Symons for Con Z racked up a personal best of 37, leaving Paul Shrimpton side-lined for best part of the frame.
RESULTS December 11: Conservative Z 4 West Devon 1; West Devon C 4 West Devon B 1.
Breaks of the week: Trevor Symons 37; Neil Murton 25, clear.
