TAVISTOCK Netball Club’s new ‘Back to Netball’ team TT3 took on Sporting Sparks at Marjons in the Plymouth and district Netball League division five.
Both teams started nervously. Lorraine Hucker got the first goal for TT3, but Sparks came back with a couple of their own. Great team defence from Sky Greta-May and Sarah Daymond kept TT3 in the game as Sparks led 3-1.
At the next quarter TT3 took the lead with goals from Hucker and Tamar Hick who came on at GA and a great intercept from Robyn Hammond at centre saw TT3 take the lead 5-4.
Hannah Cole came on at centre and young 14 year-old Jade Coupland came on at GD. Siobhan Rescorla started the third well in the GS bib with great rebound skills. Coupland used her height and made a few tips helping the girls extend their lead to 10-7
In the final quarter player of the match Charlotte Hill came back on at WA feeding well into the circle as TT3 came out 12-8 winners.
Callington side Rentafford took on long standing rivals Bond Girls on Monday night in Premier B.
Rentaford started well but with six missed shots by Bond, this was mainly due to Jodie Brent and Toni Dustan intercepts. Sarah Streeter at GS was the play maker out of the circle feeding into Kate Bourn who found her range. The quarter finished 10-2 to Rentafford.
Bond made two changes a new centre and keeper. Rentafford scored the first four goals with Helen Veness feeding Streeter and Bourn well. However Bond took the next four as the quarter ended 17-6.
Veness went to the bench and Karen Chanon came on at WA. Bond again made changes. Player of the match Gemma Cole and Naomi Kent linked well with the defence as Bond were now pulling back with great defence 22-14.
Rentafford started well with Brent and Dustan back intercepting and tipping balls. They went on to secure the five points with a 29-19 win.
