TRAMPOLINISTS from Okehampton Flyers Gym, Trampoline and DMT Club achieved six national medals and other top placings at the individual NDP national finals, held at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, on July 13 and 14.
The individual NDP Finals is the last event of the trampoline season. All nine gymnasts qualified for this event in June by achieving a top eight place at the team finals in Birmingham — another national competition where the gymnasts represented the South West.
On double mini trampoline, Owen Pitman achieved a gold medal in the NDP5 male 15 plus category, with Harry Pitman taking silver in NDP1 male 13+.
On trampoline, Arran Stannard-Heap won gold in NDP5 male 13-14, with Dylan Rundle also taking gold in NDP1 male 13+ and Keira Moore winning bronze in NDP1 femals 13+.
Emillie Hughes won a bronze medal in the U15 category 1 disability class, with Bethan Honey and Yasmin Rundle achieving fifth places in NDP1 female 11-12 and NDP2 female 13+ respectively, and Oliver Vine taking seventh place in NDP2 male 11-12.
Following a grant of £15,000 from Okehampton United Charities for new competition equipment, the club has been able to double the number of places available and will be entering more gymnasts into trampoline and double mini trampoline competitions next season. The club will also be entering tumbling competitions at the end of the year.
Okehampton Flyers gymnasts will be performing trampoline and tumbling skills at Super Sporting Sunday in Simmons Park this Sunday (July 21), to celebrate OCRA’s sport and fitness festival. Members of the public can also have fun learning skills on the new equipment.
