Peter Bartlett, patron of South West Lakes Trust, held the position of chairman of the Royal Yachting Association for the South West region for 15 years.

A keen supporter of youth sailing Peter donated the Bartlett Cup which is competed for each September by young sailors at Roadford Lake.

Peter has worked hard to make the sport as accessible as possible to people in the community — a founding trustee, he became SWLT's first patron in 2008 and was awarded the MBE for services to sport in 2009.

Penny Way, one of Great Britain's first ever Olympic windsurfers, took up the sport at Siblyback Lake and became the Womens' World Racing Champion in 1986 and then again in 1990 and 1991!

So for those who like the thought of wearing an Olympic gold medal around your neck get down to one of South West Lakes Trust's fantastic Outdoor + Active centres and learn a new sport today!
