A STUPENDOUS 3,373 cyclists took part on Sunday in the biggest ever Dartmoor Classic Cyclosportive.

Organised by Mid Devon Cycling Club and run in association with Specialised the non-competitve event starts at Newton Abbot racecourse competitors had the choice of three circuits — the Grande (107 miles/173 km); The Medio (68 miles/110 km); and the ladies only Debutante (35 miles/54 km).

With riders, teams and clubs attracted from all over the country to this annual event, riders passed the tors of Dartmoor and made their way through Princetown, Tavistock up to Lydford before heading across the countryside back to Mid Devon.

There were 205 women starting the Debutante - which is run in support of British Cycling Breeze Rides - 719 cyclists on the Grande, and 2449 on the Medio.

Among the riders were around 40 members of Tavistock Wheelers and many others from West Devon.
