MOUNT Kelly Swimming concluded the 2016 Devon County Champion-ships with their most successful outing of the whole competition.

Between them, Mount Kelly swimmers claimed five championship titles, nine junior championship titles, three open Mount Kelly records, two SKINS champions, (where swimmers battle it out over a series of back to back 50m races at 90 second intervals), seven SKINS qualifiers, 30 championship finalists and a further 33 age group medals.

Championship titles were won by Kaylee Dekker in the 50 and 100 metre butterfly, Benjamin Staig in the 200m backstroke and Julian Chan Quee Lin and Megan Bowen in the 50m freestyle.

Julian and Megan both went on to take victory in the exciting SKINS events.

In the female event, Mount Kelly dominated, taking the top five places (1, Megan Bowen; 2, Lauren Hession; 3, Anna Cutts; 4, Kaylee Dekker and 5, Georgina Dennis). In the male event, Julian finished first and Will Luckham-Down took fourth.

Junior championship titles were won by Ollie Taverner (3), Lauren Hession (2), Kaylee Dekker (2), Eddie Maddocks and Jack Hutchin.

The final weekend also saw Mount Kelly swimmers take down three of Mount Kelly Swimming’s open records.

Benjamin Staig smashed his lifetime best to re-claim the 200m backstroke in a time of 2 minutes 01.50 seconds. Julian Chan Quee Lin then broke the 23 second barrier for the first time to post a new personal best of 22.88.

The final open record was set by 14-year-old Ollie Taverner, who stormed to a time of 64.95 secs to break the record by 0.07 seconds.

In addition to all the senior and junior champions, other Mount Kelly championship finalists were: Reiss Ormonde-Cunningham, Christy Gold, Chloe Barrow and Jake Bentley.

The 33 age group medals were won by: Jack Plummer, four golds; Olivia Lee, two gold, two silver, bronze; Jack Hutchin, two gold, silver; Bella Hodges, two gold, silver; Eddie Maddocks, two gold; Tegan Lessey, one gold, two silver; Halle Ashworth, Jacob Gibbons and Jamie Brew, one gold; Claire Murphy, three silver; Ollie Taverner, two silver; Elliot Svensson, silver; Jacob Newcombe, silver, bronze; Georgina Dennis and Sophie Main, bronze.
