THE Mount House U11A girl's rounders team came into their match away at Exeter Cathedral School knowing that a win would see them finish the season unbeaten. The match didn't start well for them, as Alice Lamb and Bella Snow were both caught out on their first bat, but the recovery followed and the rounders began to clock up. Anneliese Wright top-scored with two as Mount House finished their innings with a total of six and a half rounders. In the field the visitors made a more impressive start, getting seven of the opposition out in 14 balls, though the three remaining batters saw out the innings. The second half saw Mount House scoring well with six girls contributing one rounder each, leaving Exeter needing six and a half rounders in their second innings to win. The visitors stayed tight throughout the innings, with Rose Whitbread bowling well and the fielders, particularly Lauren Sarkar, stopping and returning the ball quickly. The match was exciting right to the end, with Mount House winning 12 and a half to 10 and a half to complete their unbeaten season. n Meanwhile the Mount House U11B team batted well against Exeter's B team, with Emily Lumley leading the way and earning the Player of the Match award by scoring four full rounders. Mount House, however, struggled to contain the strong Exeter hitters despite some excellent fielding, and lost the match 14-9.
